I recently began exploring WP Event Manager as part of a project relating to healthcare services. I was hoping to gain some insight from those who have used it before in similar situations.
The majority of discussions I have seen focus on events such as webinars, workshops, and conferences. But I am particularly interested in the way this plugin can work for smaller service-based settings such as clinics and specialist practices.
For example, I have been working on the concept of a local Perth service that is increasingly digital. Many clinics are now looking to provide a more user-friendly and structured way for patients who want to book appointments, explore services and register for awareness sessions and treatment camps.
WP Event Manager is a great tool, but I am still learning how to use it.
"Events" in a clinic are not necessarily traditional events. These can include:
Consultation slots scheduled
Recurring clinics days
Foot Care Awareness Workshops
Diabetic foot screening camps
Follow-up sessions after surgery
Can WP Event Manager accommodate this level of flexibility?
I'm trying my best to determine if it is possible to make each slot a "separate event" without the system becoming too cluttered. If, for example, a podiatrist perth practice offers consultations at intervals of 30 minutes, it might not be efficient to create individual events.
Anyone tried this before? How did you structure yours?
Booking limitations are another area that interests me. In a healthcare setting, you want to limit the number of patients who can book a certain time slot. A workshop may allow up to 10 people while a consultation should be limited at one person.
Does WP Event Manager offer this level of control? Would I need to use an additional booking plugin in order to control capacity?
I would also like to know if you have any add-ons for this use case. I know there are extensions available for calendars, registrations and tickets, but I don't know which combination is best for a clinic workflow.
A challenge that I have been considering is the user experience. Most visitors to a clinic like the one in Perth are not tech-savvy. Bookings should be simple.

People will often abandon the online process and call the clinic instead if it feels too complicated.

WP Event manager is flexible. However, using it for a healthcare website may require a different approach than traditional event websites.
I am open to trying out different setups. This could include using different categories for different types or appointments, combining the plugin with others, or even slightly changing the workflow.
The goal is to create an easy-to-use system that allows patients to easily browse services, understand the availability and book appointments without confusion.
I would really appreciate any tips, suggestions, or experiences that can point me in the direction of what to do.
