How Recurring Event Function Works?
Recurring events can be repeated on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. Moreover, adding custom dates and weeks is also possible with this.
There are five types of event recurrences:
- Don’t Repeat: Select the “Don’t Repeat” option from the event recurrence dropdown if your event is regular(not recurring).
- Repeat Daily: The Repeat Daily option signifies that an event will be repeated everyday till the time you want. The best part is you do not have to update the event every day, as the process is automatic. All you have to do is to specify the number of days during which you want the event to be repeated.
- Event Recurrence: Select the Daily option from the dropdown.
- Repeat Every: Choose the number of day(s) you want between each occurrence of the event.
- Repeat Until: Choose the date till you want to repeat the event.
- Example: Let's say the original event start date is December 1, 2020. You want this event to repeat daily till December 15. To set this event with the Recurring Events plugin, here are the steps you need to take:
- Repeat Occurrence: Repeat daily.
- Repeat Every: Enter an integer here to tell the system that you want the event to recur every X days (1 means every day, 2 means every 2 days, and so on…). For example, if you enter 2 into this parameter, then the event will recur every 2 days; if the event starts on Monday, it will recur on Wednesday, Friday, Sunday…
- Repeat Until: Mention the end date till which the event will recur. For example, if you want to repeat it until 15 December, mention 16 December 2020 in the “repeat until” section.
- Repeat Weekly: Select the “Weekly” option from the event recurrence dropdown if your event is going to occur weekly. Every week, it will automatically relist events with the next week’s date.
- Event Recurrence: Select the Weekly option from the dropdown.
- Repeat Every: Choose the number of week(s) you want between each occurrence of the event.
- Repeat Until: Choose the date till you want to repeat the event.
- Day Name: Select the weekday for occurrence.
- Example: Let's say the original event start date is December 1, 2020. You want this event to repeat Weekly, every Saturday until 2nd January 2021, so the following is how you set the settings.
- Repeat Occurrence– Repeat Weekly.
- Repeat Every– Enter an integer number here to tell the system that you want the event to recur every X weeks (1 means every 1 week, 2 means every 2 weeks, and so on…). For example, if you enter 1 into this parameter, then the event will recur every 1 week.
- Day Name: Select Saturday here.
- Repeat until: Mention the end date till which the event will recur. For example, if you want the event to recur till 2nd Jan, which is Saturday, you have to mention the date 3rd Jan in the “repeat until” section.
- Repeat Monthly: Select the “Monthly” option from the event recurrence dropdown if your event is going to occur monthly. The organizer can select an event repeating type as monthly. So, the event will be repeated every month, and the organizer doesn’t need to post the same event manually every month.
- Event Recurrence: Select the Monthly option from the dropdown.
- Repeat Every: Choose the number of month(s) you want between each occurrence of the event.
- On the: Here, you have to choose between the Same Day or Specific Day options.
(a) Day Number: Insert the day number (For ex: First day of the month, second day of the month, etc.)
(b) Day Name: Select the weekday for occurrence. - Repeat Until: Choose the date till you want to repeat the event.
- Repeat Yearly: Select the “Yearly” option from the event recurrence dropdown if you want to post a yearly event.
- Event Recurrence: Select the Yearly option from the dropdown.
- Repeat Every: Choose the number of year(s) you want between each occurrence of the event.
- Repeat Until: Choose the date till you want to repeat the event.
