WP Seats Installation
The installation process is the same for all the addons offered by WP Event Manager. They can be installed both automatically and manually.
1) Automatic Installation: You can install the plugin from the backend of your WordPress. Click Here to see how you can install the plugin automatically.
2) Manual Installation: You can also install the plugin manually using SFTP or FTP tools FTP tool as well. Click Here to see how you can install the plugin manually.
Creating a seating chart for an event
To create a seating chart with WP Seats, here are the steps to follow:
Before you start creating the seating chart, you need to generate the API key from WP Seats to initiate the integration. Click here to get all the steps to generate the API key from WP
Seats. Once you generate the API key, you need to paste it at the backend boothchart section by following the path -
wp-admin>>Events Manager>>Settings>>Booth Chart>>Paste the API key in the “Enter the Seats Public WordPress key” section and Save changes.
Then follow the below mentioned steps to create the chart :
1. Go to wp-admin.
2. Click on Events Manager.
3. Select WP Seats from the dropdown options.
4. Click on Add New Chart.
5. You will get three options here.
Simple: suitable for venues accommodating less than a thousand people.
Sections and Floors: suitable for concerts, theatres, stadiums etc.
Zone: goes well with track based events like air shows, parades etc.
6. Choose your preferred seating chart as per your event by clicking on any of the three.
7. For example, if you select the Simple option, you will be asked to upload your preferred seating chart if you already have one. You can skip the step if you want to create a seating chart from scratch.
8. Then you need to create your chart.
9. Once you create the chart, click on the arrow button to select seat category. You can add as many categories as needed, according to your requirements.
10. Click on manage category before labeling each category's details.
11. Then fill in the details in the row labeling, section labeling, and seat labeling sections.
12. Finally, add a proper name to your seating chart and save.
Adding a seat chart to a specific event
To add your created seat chart to a specific event, you need to follow the below mentioned steps:
1. Go to Events Manager.
2. Click on add event and fill up the necessary event details like title, banner image etc.
3. Fill up date and time, venue, etc and click on Publish.
4. Now, activate the Attendee information plugin from your installed plugins.
5. Then add the specific information that you want to collect from your attendees.
6. Then add your attendee information collection type preferences to the general information section of the event in the Attendee information to collect section.
7. After that, go to the Seating chart section, select your preferred seating chart from the dropdown.
8. Click on Create Event Chart.
9. Once done, navigate to the specific event page on the frontend and see how it works.
10. When an attendee registers for the event, he or she will be able to access the seating chart, choose seats as per preferences and make the payments accordingly.
11. While booking seats, your attendees need to provide all the necessary details that are mentioned on the checkout page.
12. To see how the ticket looks, go to the admin panel again and click on WooCommerce>> Orders.
13. Here you will get the list of all orders placed for your event tickets.
14. Download a specific ticket and see how the seating details are mentioned there.
15. After the booking is done, your next attendees will see the booked seats (marked in a different color) in the seating chart so that they can pick their preferred ones from the available seats.
Blocking and releasing seats from the backend.
The admin can block seats in advance for its special guests from the registered attendees. To do that he or she needs to follow the steps mentioned below:
1. Open the seat chart of a specific event at the backend.
2. Select the preferred seats you want to block for your special guests by clicking on them.
3. Go to the “block seat for” option and select attendee names from the dropdown, which contains the names of all attendees.
4. Then click on Block Selected.
The blocked seats would appear in a different color.
5. The admin can release the blocked seats as per requirements by simply clicking on the Release seats option.
Based on the above-mentioned changes at the backend the seating chart will appear at the frontend.
